How to write useful AI interior design prompts

Start with what the image already shows

A useful prompt begins with the room and the change you want. The source image already carries geometry, camera angle, and many fixed details, so repeat only what must be preserved.

• ✓State the main design direction
• ✓List the important materials
• ✓Add lighting and mood
• ✓Name any elements that must stay

Keep one clear design direction

Combining several unrelated styles often creates a generic result. Choose one primary style, then add one or two precise influences such as a warmer palette or more natural texture.

For example: Warm Japandi living room, light oak storage, off-white limewash walls, oatmeal linen sofa, low black coffee table, soft daylight, preserve the window and fireplace.

Refine one variable at a time

When the first result is close, change one group of choices at a time. Adjusting the palette, furniture, lighting, and layout together makes it difficult to learn which instruction improved the result.
